A western suburb of Wishaw in North Lanarkshire, Craigneuk lies at the southern edge of the site of the former Ravenscraig Steel Works, a mile (1.5 km) west northwest of the town centre and 1½ miles (2.5 km) southeast of Motherwell. The Etna Iron and Steel Works was established here in the later 19th C. and its site is now the Etna Industrial Estate. The road to the south is named Vesuvius Drive, in memory of one of the foundries. The settlement of Shieldmuir lies immediately to the southwest.
