One of two deserted settlements on the SW coast of the island of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides, Upper Grulin (Gael: Grulin Uachdrach) consists of twenty-three buildings located on the steep slopes below the Sgurr of Eigg, 1½ miles (2.5 km) west of Galmisdale. It was abandoned after the 1847 potato famine with many of the former residents moving to Canada. A single cottage was restored by Keith Schellenberg, the controversial Laird of Eigg between 1975 and 1995. Lower Grulin is located ¾ mile (1.2 km) to the northwest.
