Mid Clyth


Highland

A scattered settlement which represents a former fishing village on the east coast of the Caithness district of Highland Council Area, Mid Clyth lies 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Lybster and 9 miles (15 km) southwest of Wick. There was once a station on the Wick and Lybster Light Railway which operated between 1903 and 1944. Barytes was mined nearby during the First World War and a half-mile (0.8 km) to the northeast are the prehistoric standing stones at a location known as the Hill o' Many Stanes.
