Castleton Village

(Milton of Leys)
Highland

A modern dormitory settlement overlooking the Moray Firth, Castleton Village (previously known as Milton of Leys) lies on rising ground below Drummossie Muir, 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Inverness in Highland Council Area. Once the site of a corn mill and a sawmill on the Mill Burn, fed by the dam still located to the southeast of the settlement, Castleton was built as a large development of luxury houses in the early years of the 21st century as part of the Inverness's expansion strategy. General Wade's Military Road, which once rose up onto the Muir, ends here, while the A9 trunk road lies a half-mile (1 km) to the east.
