Kinloch

(Ceann Locha)
Highland

A hamlet which forms the only settlement on the island of Rum in the Inner Hebrides, Kinloch (Gael: Ceann Locha) receives the ferry which serves the island. Kinloch Castle is a fine country house built in 1901 by industrialist George Bullough. Kinloch also hosts a small primary school, village hall and a shop, which is owned and run by the community. In 2010, ownership of land and property around Kinloch passed from Scottish Natural Heritage to the Isle of Rum Community Trust.
