Isleornsay

(Eilean Iarmain)
Highland

A picturesque scattered hamlet with a harbour on the east coast of the Sleat peninsula of Skye, Isleornsay (or Eilean Iarmain) lies 7 miles (11 km) south southeast of Broadford. Its sheltered natural harbour was developed in the early 19th century as a herring port and it soon became a popular stopping-off point for the steamer from Glasgow. In 1820, Isleornsay became the location for Skye's first public toilet.

Close to the pier is the Isle Ornsay Hotel and Gallery an Talla Dearg, a commercial sculpture gallery. The Ornsay Lighthouse is located on Eilean Sionnach, a half-mile (1 km) to the east.
