Drumnadrochit

Highland

A location in the Great Glen, Highland Council Area, Drumnadrochit lies on the River Enrick at the east end of Glen Urquhart and at the head of Urquhart Bay, an inlet on the west side of Loch Ness. A post office was established here in 1835 and its hotel became popular in the 19th century, the area's prosperity being linked to the exploitation of the Loch Ness Monster. In addition to visitor centres focussing on the Monster, there is an oatcake bakery.
