A scattered hamlet on the Shetland island of Whalsay, Brough is situated on the northwest coast 2 miles (3 km) north of the port of Symbister. There is a lighthouse nearby at Suther Ness and a narrow neck of land links with Kirk Ness on which stands Whalsay's only church and burial ground.
