Clachtoll

Highland

A crofting township in Assynt, Highland Council Area, Clachtoll lies on the west coast of Sutherland, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Lochinver. A broch on the edge of the sea dates from the late first millennium BC. It was from here that the missionary Norman MacLeod (1780 - 1886) left with a group of his followers to travel to Canada, settling in what became Nova Scotia.
