Kilennan

Argyll and Bute

An abandoned township in the remote centre of Eastern Islay, Argyll and Bute, Kilennan comprises ruins of at least twenty buildings organised in four groups strung out along the south bank of the River Kilennan. There are also enclosures associated with these buildings and ample evidence of rig-and-furrow cultivation. Close to a more modern sheepfold are said to be the remains of a Mediaeval chapel.
