A farm in the S of the Rhinns of Islay, Wester Ellister lies to the south of the A847 road, overlooking Port Ellister, 1¼ miles (2 km) east of Portnahaven. The ruins of Cladh Eilisteir, a Mediaeval chapel, lie in fields to the north.
