A small farm on the flats on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth, Inch of Ferryton lies 1¼ miles (2 km) south southwest of Clackmannan and 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Alloa. A well drilled deep into Carboniferous rocks here in 1986 discovered economic quantities of gas.
