Pentecox

City of Edinburgh

A row of former farm cottages dating from the 18th C. on the A7 Old Dalkeith Road a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southeast of Little France and 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Edinburgh city centre. The name comes from the Brythonic, 'pant coxa' meaning 'foot of the valley'. The area is now dominated by the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to the north and Edinburgh BioQuarter to the east.
