Whittingehame

East Lothian

A hamlet and parish to the north of the Lammermuir Hills, Whittingehame lies to the east of Haddington and southwest of Dunbar. Drained by the Whittingehame Water, its most notable buildings are 15th-century Whittingehame Tower, Whittingehame Parish Church (1722) and Whittingehame House (1817). There are memorials in the church to Arthur James Balfour (1848 - 1930), owner of the Whittingehame Estate and British Prime Minister (1902-05).
