A location in Eskdale, Dumfries and Galloway, Mumbie comprises settlements and farms at Upper Mumbie, Nether Mumbie and Mumbie Cottages, which all lie just east of the River Esk, 3 miles (5 km) south of Langholm. Mumbie Quarry proved to be an important source of fossil fish with palaeontologist Stan Wood (1939 - 2012) discovering more than 200 here in the 1990s.
