A hamlet of the Machars in Dumfries and Galloway, Whauphill lies at a road junction, 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Wigtown. It benefits from a post office and community hall. A railway station opened here in 1875 on the Portpatrick and Wigtownshire Joint Railway but closed with the line in the 1960s.
