Mennock

Dumfries and Galloway

A hamlet of Dumfries and Galloway, Mennock lies on the A76 trunk road 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Sanquhar at the confluence of the Mennock Water and River Nith. There were once railway sidings here to load lead brought down the valley from Wanlockhead, which lies 5 miles (8 km) to the northeast. While these are gone the railway still passes en route from to Kilmarnock to Dumfries.
