Octofad

Argyll and Bute

A farm in the SE of the Rhinns of Islay (Argyll and Bute), Octofad, known locally as 'long brae', is situated a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Nerabus and 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Port Charlotte. The unusual name, which is unique to three place-names in Islay, derives from an ancient areal measure, the octave, which was an eighth of a davoch.
