A locality with a farm and mill in S Dumfries and Galloway, West Barcloy lies to the east of the Rough Firth (the estuary of the Urr Water), a half-mile (0.8 km) southeast of Rockcliffe. Barcloy Hill rises to 79m (259 feet) to the south, with Barcloy Heugh located next to Castlehill (of Barcloy) Point, where there are the remains of a hill-fort.
