Lochcote

A location in the Bathgate Hills of West Lothian, Lochcote lies 1¼ miles (2 km) northeast of Torphichen. Timothy Pont depicted a mansion here on his 16th C. map, which was owned by the Crawford family in the 18th C. The remains of Lochcote Castle are shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the mid-19th C., although were being used as a doo'cot by this time. Today, Lochcote Reservoir lies to the south.
