Scottish Borders

A location and scattered community in the Scottish Borders, Bowland is located 2½ miles (4 km) south of Stow and 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Galashiels. It takes its name from Bowland House and Estate, which lie of the right bank of the Gala Water. Bowland Bridge (1815) crosses this river and there was once a Bowland Station on the Waverley Line, situated to the east.
