A residential suburb of Barrhead in East Renfrewshire, Crossmill lies to the west of Glasgow Road, a half-mile (1 km) northeast of the town centre. The area was developed as public housing in the 1920s and 1930s, although much of this was cleared in the later 20th C. and replaced with private housing. Crossmill House and Crossmill Farm are long gone, and the Spillers (laterly Nestlé) pet food factory, situated on the opposite side of Glasgow Road, closed in 2004 and was demolished in 2012. Crossmill Business Park lies to the south.
