A location and former estate in Glen Esslin, Dumfries and Galloway, Collieston lies to the west of Nithsdale, 2½ miles (4 km) west of Dunscore. Collieston Cottage lies between the farms of Nethertown and Dunesslin, while Collieston Hill rises on Collieston Moor to the southwest. The Collieston Burn descends to fall into the Glenesslin Burn. Clergyman John Welsh (1568 - 1622) was the son of the Laird of Collieston.
