A location lying on the River Teviot, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Teviothead and 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. A memorial here, dating from 1897, commemorates John Armstrong of Gilnockie, the laird of Canonbie and a local racketeer, who was hung in 1530 at Caerlanrig by King James V (1512-42).
