An isolated settlement on an elevated promontory in the NW of the Isle of Bute, Kilmichael is located across the Kyles of Bute from Kames, 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of Ettrick Bay. It comprises a farm, together with Kilmichael Cottage, the ruined ancient St. Michael's Chapel and a chambered cairn known as Michael's Grave.
