A locality S of the Rhinns of Islay, Ellister (Gael: Eilisteir) lies to the east northeast of Portnahaven and comprises farms at Wester Ellister and Easter Ellister, the former located next to Port Ellister. The remains of a Mediaeval chapel known as Clach Eilisteir lies closeby. A bird sanctuary was established at Easter Ellister in the 1970s, associated with ponds created on a stream which lies below to the farm.
