Tarff

A scattered settlement in the S of Dumfries and Galloway, Tarff spans the Tarff Water to the east of Valleyfield and 3 miles (5 km) north of Kirkcudbright. There are two bridges here, both B-listed; the Old Bridge of Tarff (18th C.) and the High Bridge of Tarff (1832). Tarff Church, a former Free Church dating from c. 1845, was converted to domestic use in 1997. On the opposite side of the A75 Trunk Road is Tarff Station, which operated on the Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright Branch of the Glasgow and South Western Railway.
