A location in NW Dundee, Balgarthno was once a farm with its steadings located where the Dundee West Premier Inn is now to be found. Its land was divided with the building of the Kingsway, but Balgarthno Stone Circle remains a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the east north east. The name is remembered in Balgarthno Terrace, Balgarthno Road and Balgarthno Street in the neighbouring Charleston public housing estate.
