West Tarbert

Argyll and Bute

A small hamlet at the head of West Loch Tarbert on the western coast of the Kintyre peninsula of Argyll and Bute, West Tarbert lies a mile (2 km) southwest of Tarbert. A regular steamer service operated from here to Islay until it was replaced by a car ferry in 1970. Eight years later the ferry service was transferred to a more suitable terminal at Kennacraig.
