Bruichladdich

Argyll and Bute

A distillery village located on the island of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Bruichladdich sits on the eastern shore of Loch Indaal, directly opposite the settlement of Bowmore. Port Charlotte lies 2 miles (3 km) to the south. Bruichladdich developed around one of the many Islay malt whisky distilleries, which was established in 1881. Islay's fuel-oil depot is located here and a new £3-million pier opened in 2006 to permit deliveries from larger oil tankers.
