Bunnahabhainn

(Bunnahabhain, Bun na h-Abhainne, Bonahaven)
Argyll and Bute

Located on the isolated northeast coast of the island of Islay in Argyll and Bute, Bunnahabhainn (often Bunnahabhain, once Bonahaven, Gael: Bun na h-Abhainne, meaning 'foot of the river') lies at the southern end of Bunnahabhainn Bay and overlooks the Sound of Islay to the island of Jura. Port Askaig lies 3 miles (5 km) to the southeast of the village. This is a whisky settlement, dominated by Bunnahabhain Distillery, which was established in 1883. There settlement grew up next to this distillery; there are a few houses, mostly occupied by distillery workers, but no other facilities.
