Howwood


Renfrewshire

A village located 2 miles (3 km) south southwest of Kilbarchan and 6 miles (9.5 km) southwest of Paisley, its name derives from 'Hollow Wood'. There are some remnants of the Midtownfield Bleachworks (1835-40) to the south, while one wall remains of Elliston Castle (15th Century). Howwood Railway Station serves the Ayrshire Coast Line.
