Garvock


Aberdeenshire

A location with a church in a parish of the same name in south Aberdeenshire, Garvock lies 2 miles (3 km) east of Laurencekirk on the Hill of Garvock which forms an eastern edge to the Howe of the Mearns. A prominent feature nearby on the hill is a folly known as Johnston Tower which was built by Jame Farquhar in 1812 with stone left over from the building of his mansion house, Johnston Lodge.
