Ardfin

Argyll and Bute

A location and estate on the southern shoreline of the island of Jura, Argyll and Bute, Arfin lies 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Craighouse. The estate is associated with Jura House. The then-abandoned Ardfin boat-house was the site for a peculiar incident in 1994, when the pop duo KLF filmed the burning of £1 million in a self-indulgent protest against the arts establishment. They had intended to give the money to struggling artists, but with the words "we realised that struggling artists are meant to struggle, that's the whole point", they burned the lot. The boat-house has become a feature on an 18-hole golf course which opened here in 2020.
