A significant crofting township on the northwest coast of Lewis in the Western Isles, Barvas (Gael: Barabhas) lies in a parish of the same name, on the River Barvas, 11 miles (17 km) northwest of Stornoway. The settlement comprises Barvas itself, with its Gaelic-medium primary school, two churches and a post office, together with Upper Barvas (Gael: Barabhas Uarach) to the north northeast and Lower Barvas (Gael: Barabhas Iarach) to the west, adjacent to Loch More Barvas.
