Boquhan

Stirling

A location in Stirling Council Area, Boquhan lies a mile (1.5 km) to the east of Kippen on the Boquhan Burn. The Boquhan estate occupies the carse lands of the River Forth and the northern foothills of the Gargunnock Hills. The policies of Boquhan are entered through a turreted Edwardian gatehouse. The white-harled mansion, with classical pretensions, dates from 1959 but the steading, with its entrance pend and octagonal clock tower, is of greater antiquity, dating from 1817. The original house on this site, dating from the 18th century, was a property of the Campbells. Boquhan Burn rises in the Fintry Hills and flows down through an attractive glen before joining the River Forth near Fordhead. There is another Boquhan located 8½ miles (14 km) to the west southwest.
