Tolsta (Tolastadh) Western Isles A locality on the east coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Tolsta (Gael: Tolastadh) lies to the west of Tolsta Head, 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Stornoway. The primary settlement is the crofting township of North Tolsta (Gael: Tolastadh bho Thuath), with the smaller township of New Tolsta (Gael: Bail Ur Tholastaidh) located just to the north. Glen Tolsta lies 1¼ miles (2 km) to the southwest. Until the 1960s, North Tolsta was known as South Tolsta and New Tolsta was North Tolsta.
