Forss

(Bridge of Forss)
Highland

A scattered settlement on the north coast of the Caithness district of Highland Council Area, Forss lies on the Forss Water where it meets the sea, 5 miles (8 km) west of Thurso. Nearby are Forss Mill, the ancient chapel of Crosskirk, and Brims Castle, a former stronghold of the Sinclairs of Dunbeath. The main road between Thurso and Tongue crosses the Bridge of Forss. To the north was a US Navy satellite station, operating between 1975 and 1992, which has been redeveloped as Forss Business and Technology Park. This settlement should not be confused with Forse, located 25 miles (40 km) to the south southeast.
