A small hamlet of W Angus, Craigton lies in Strathmore 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Kirriemuir and 5 miles (8 km) east of Alyth (Perth and Kinross). The name is a contraction of Craigton of Airlie and the hamlet of Airlie lies a mile (1.5 km) to the west southwest.
