Douglastown

Angus

A hamlet of Central Angus, Douglastown lies in the Valley of Strathmore, at the foot of the Sidlaw Hills, 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Glamis and 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Forfar. Douglastown was built in the early 1790s around a flax-mill which was managed about that time by James Ivory (1765 - 1842) who went on to become a noted mathematician. The A94 road passes through the settlement.
