Kirkton of Kinnettles

(Kirkton)
Angus

A small hamlet at the centre of the parish of Kinnettles in Central Angus, Kirkton of Kinnettles (or simply Kirkton or Kinnettles) lies a half-mile (1 km) southeast of Douglastown and 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Forfar. The parish church dates from 1812, although an earlier structure was dedicated by Bishop David de Bernham in 1241. The Duncan Hall was built as the United Free Church in 1843 and served in this capacity until 1919. Kinnettles House, a fine Scottish Baronial mansion, lies to the northeast.
