A small settlement lying to the east of the B8017 road in the centre of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Lyrabus is situated a mile (1.7 km) northwest of Blackrock and 3 miles (5 km) west northwest of Bridgend. It comprises a group of five houses to the south and a farm to the north. The name is distinctively Norse, meaning 'muddy farm'.
