A farm which represents the remains of a larger community behind Machir Bay on the west coast of the Rhinns of Islay, Machrie lies on the Allt na Criche a half-mile (0.8 km) northwest of Kilchoman. The mid-19th C. edition of the Ordnance Survey map shows at least four separate houses here.
