A small hamlet, with a bridge, on the west shore of Carlingwark Loch, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Castle Douglas (Dumfries and Galloway). Carlingwark House, a mid-19th century castellated villa, lies immediately to the north and Threave Gardens, run by the National Trust for Scotland, lie a half-mile (1 km) to the southwest.
