Hume

Scottish Borders

A village in the Berwickshire district of the Scottish Borders, Hume lies 3 miles (5 km) south of Greenlaw and 6 miles (10 km) north of Kelso. On a hill nearby stands the 13th-century Hume Castle, a former stronghold of the Hume or Home family who moved to the Hirsel after the castle was destroyed by Cromwell's troops in 1651.
