A scattered hamlet in Glean Spean, 2 miles (3 km) east of Roybridge, Achluachrach lies on the north bank of the River Spean. Located here, amongst 2 ha (5 acres) of landscaped gardens and woodland, is the Glen Spean Lodge Hotel, built as a shooting lodge by the Macintoshes of Macintosh in the 1880s it has subsequently been extended and refurbished. More recently a back-packers hostel was established nearby.
