An ancient location in SE Caithness, Nottingham lies ¾ mile (1.2 km) north northwest of Forse and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) west of Lybster. In 1408, Mariota de Cheyne granted land here to the Sutherlands. The Sutherlands of Forse built Forse House here in the mid-18th C., later replaced by the current Forse House. Today the house remains, although the name Nottingham is applied to a farm which includes a substantial farm steading.
