Auchenbothie

Inverclyde

A modern housing development located a mile (1.5 km) northwest of Kilmacolm in Inverclyde, Auchenbothie was developed around Auchenbothie House, a fine mansion which was given to the town of Port Glasgow by ship-building magnate Sir James Lithgow (1883 - 1952). It was used as a retirement home from 1950, but had deteriorated markedly before it was redeveloped as flats.
