Quendale Shetland A settlement in the Dunrossness district at the south of the Mainland of Shetland, Quendale lies on the Bay of Quendale, a half-mile (1 km) south of Hillwell and 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Sumburgh Airport. The Quendale Estate was the property of the Sinclair family until 1749, when it was sequestered and then bought by the Bruces of Sumburgh and the Griersons, who were merchants in Lerwick.
