A commuter village in East Renfrewshire, Waterfoot lies on the west bank of the White Cart Water, a mile (1.5 km) south of Busby and 2 miles (3 km) east of Newton Mearns. Formerly associated with a mill and smithy, it developed in the late 20th century as a green belt dormitory for affluent commuters.
